Contact Lens Fitting & Exam

Contact Lens Exams: All About Your Perfect Fit

Contact lenses are the most popular vision correction option next to eye glasses. The key attribute of a good contact lens – besides a proper prescription – is comfort.
Those who have never used contact lenses before often have reservations about the fact that there is something touching your eye.

After undergoing a comprehensive contact lens exam and fitting with us at Vivid Eye Care, we can allay any fears about the comfort, ease-of-use and health concerns associated with contact lenses. Contact lenses can correct all sorts of vision problems such as those caused by farsightedness, nearsightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia.

Please keep in mind that contact lenses may not be suitable for everyone. Certain eye health issues may prevent candidacy for contact lense usage. The eye exam will determine if all requirements are met for candidacy.

Comprehensive Contact Lens Exam and Fitting

After booking your appointment with us, one of our associates will ask that you bring certain items with you if this is your first appointment. There will also be some registration information to fill out when you arrive, before your appointment begins.

The appointment begins with a meeting with one of our optometric technicians, who will perform a number of preliminary non-invasive assessments to determine the overall health and condition of your eyes. This procedure involves assessments such as:

  • Autorefraction. One of the most commonly used devices in the eye health care industry, an autorefractor is used to determine an individual’s prescription by measuring how much light is affected as it reflects through the eyes.
  • Digital Retinal Imaging. Powerful cameras are used to produce highly detailed images of the eyes. These images provide the information necessary to make a diagnosis on conditions such as aged-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and more.
  • Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT). Another non-invasive imaging test that uses light waves to cross-section pictures of your retina – a key to detecting glaucoma and other retinal diseases.
  • Tonometry. For this procedure we use an advanced, non-contact tonometer to measure eye fluid pressure, which is a determinant in detecting glaucoma.

Recommendations and Next Steps

After your preliminary assessments have been completed, you will meet with with of our optometrists who will discuss the findings with you, answer any questions you may have and perform further tests if necessary. Following this, your optometrist will make recommendations regarding the health of your eyes and vision correction options.

The perfect time to get your new contact lenses is right after your eye exam. At Vivid Eye Care, we take pride in being able to offer a one-stop-shop for all your eye health care needs.

Following your optometrist’s recommendations and prescription, our friendly and professional opticians advise you of the best products suited for you, all at competitive prices.
